National Guard Soldiers sleeping on the floors of the U.S. Capitol. Is America great again yet?

It turns out that there are enhanced mobile phone monitoring systems in the Capitol. The government knows where you were, when you were there, and who you were. So, if you haven’t posted pictures of yourself on social media committing seditious acts or beating up policemen, or ransacking government property, or stealing documents, if nobody has identified you yet – rest assured. Once the FBI finds the time to scour all the mobile phone records, they will know exactly who you are, and then there’ll be a knock on your door.

Today, without explanation, Chad Wolf, the acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, resigned. I leave it to you to speculate why he might have done that.
Two points strike me as ironic. First, that the Chad Wolf was only the “acting” secretary, like so many others in the Trump administration. All the “best and brightest” jumped ship early when they smelled all the rats, and only sycophants took those jobs, often people who were not qualified and would not have made it through formal confirmation. That’s why I have been saying that we haven’t really had a government in the last few years. Today was the 642nd straight day of no confirmed Secretary of Homeland Security. This is by far the longest Cabinet vacancy ever in the history of the country. This is doubly ominous, considering that during those 642 days, the White House and the Senate were controlled by the Republican Party.
The second point is that the Department of Homeland Security is supposed to keep the homeland safe, right? What is more homeland than the U.S. Capitol?
After the attacks of 9/11, almost 20 years ago, we formed the Department of Homeland Security. It is now the third largest agency in the U.S. government, after Defense and Veterans Affairs. It has 240,000 employees.
In 2018, 777 million passengers were carried on U.S. airlines. In 2019, it was 925 million. So between 2001 and 2021, we carried about 15 billion passengers in U.S. airlines. And every one of those took off their shoes, because there was one shoe bomber that attempted to light his shoe with a match on an airplane. Because of that, 15 billion people took off their shoes at airport security stations over 20 years, due to the direction and regulation of the Department of Homeland Security.
However, we have one U.S. Capitol, where all our political assets get together and conduct the business of the people. If you have read the 1994 Tom Clancy book Debt of Honor, you will remember that Jack Ryan becomes President of the United States after an embittered Japan Airlines Pilot flies his Boeing 747 directly into the U.S. Capitol during a joint session of Congress, wiping out the entire government at once. I always suspected that the Osama bin Laden had read that book and got some of his ideas about 9/11 from it. After all, 9/11 happened 7 years after Debt of Honor was published. Also, you may have recently watched the more recent Netflix series Designated Survivor which starts on the same premise, an attack on the U.S. Capitol.
So there you have it: We created the Department of Homeland Security to keep the homeland safe, and while Trump is in office, the department is apparently hollowed out, has no confirmed leader, and is apparently AWOL during the only actual, physical, predictable, planned and publicized attack on the Capitol.
This must get investigated relentlessly, and people need to go to prison.
Perhaps, just perhaps, we should disband this behemoth agency that apparently does not accomplish much and start all over with appropriate counter terrorism initiatives. Obviously, we don’t need to worry about too many bin Ladens these days. We need to worry about bartenders in Nashville, unemployed welder/pipefitters in Seattle, ex-Air Force Lieutenant Colonels from Texas, and 34-year-old fathers of five children in Florida as the most series domestic terrorists.
Now Trump is throwing his followers under the bus. Their help hasn’t worked, so what good are they? They are now being arrested in California, Florida, Arkansas, all over the place.
They are saying it was the radial left that incited the mob. Nonsense. This was carefully planned and executed. Heck, this man is wearing a pre-printed sweatshirt with the date and the mission on it. Spontaneous it was not. He is wearing the hat with the name of the Dear Leader on it. Trump may say it was the left, but the agitators themselves seem to not realize that, do they?
While I don’t usually use obscenities in my blog – I am not modifying Greg’s words here. He is not buying it either. Read for yourself. It’s worth your while.

Trump said on September 22, 2017 about Kaepernick: “Get that son of a bitch off the field” about Colin Kaepernick.
Trump said on January 6, 2021 to the rioters: “We love you, you’re very special.”
The looter in the right picture is carrying the lectern of the Speaker of the House of Representatives. The man was identified as 36-year-old Adam Johnson of Florida, the father of five children. Teach your children well!
More identities of rioters are included in this article.
Is America great yet?
I am reading ridiculous claims from Trump supporters that there was no difference between what happened in the BLM protests in many cities and particularly in Portland last fall, and this riot at the Capitol.
I think this is very wrong and very disturbing.
Look at the picture below. There are masked guys in camouflage, one carrying zip cuffs. These are the devices used to temporarily handcuff people. Who do you think they were planning on cuffing? They are on the Senate floor in this picture, but there are more pictures with them in other areas.

They would have been vandalized, destroyed or stolen. In any event, they would be gone.
The zip cuffs could have been used to tie up the Senators.
The electoral votes would be gone, and thus, all evidence of the election would be lost. It would have been chaos. Trump would have declared martial law. He would have decided that he would have to stay in office until “this was all resolved orderly” and it would have taken month or years to work it out.
The coup would have been successful.
Mission accomplished. The 2020 election would have been the last election in the history of the United States, and its results would have been wiped out.
Somebody give this Senate aide a medal!
Rioters in the U.S. Capitol tore off the sign of the Speaker of the House and posed with it.
This does not seem like a brilliant move for their careers. Do these four people get charged with felonies and do prison time? I sure hope so.
I wonder what foreign enemies of our country are thinking? If these bozos were able to walk into the U.S. Capitol and ransack the office of the Speaker, without any security stopping them, do you think that this might give the spies in China, Russia, Iran and North Korea some interesting ideas?
Did computer networks get compromised? Did USB drives get inserted into laptops? Did bugging devices get installed behind receptacles or heating registers?
The bozos were in the hallways posing with loot.
The real terrorists had the run of the Capitol for hours as long as they wore red hats and face paint.
In 2019, Cardinal George Pell, the third most powerful man in the Vatican, was sentenced to jail for six years, with no chance for parole for at least three years and eight months, for the child sex abuse he was convicted of back in December of 2018.
Just recently, the High Court of Australia overturned the conviction, basically stating that nobody but the perpetrator and the victim were in the room where it happened, so it’s their word against his.
It’s very, very rare that there are third-party witnesses in a room where rape is occurring! A jury convicted him after reviewing the evidence in a trial! It shows how powerful church officials get away with rape.
During a broadcast interview in the UK, Pell said that his style was rather direct in the way he defended Christian teachings. He basically said that that people hated him for his conservative views.
No, Cardinal Pell, people don’t hate you for your conservative views. It probably has something to do with the fact that you raped little boys.
You say you “can sleep quite well on most occasions.” Why don’t you try to tell that to those boys you raped, who have now been carrying this baggage with them for two decades, and will not likely forget it for the rest of their lives? We know about two. How many more were there?
The pope of the Catholics continues to allow this to happen.
Here are the mugshots of 10 of the 13 would-be Michigan kidnappers.
People who are planning on kidnapping an American Governor and possibly executing her are called terrorists. Since we usually associate terrorism with foreigners, we have narrowed the term down to “domestic terrorists.”
Here are pictures of domestic terrorists. They are all white. I don’t know these 10 men, but I do know our media calls them “white supremacists.” I am actually curious about what goes on in the head of somebody who plans to kidnap and possibly execute a governor. I would like to have a conversation, maybe over a beer in the backyard. What would be their persuasive argument?
But this post is not about the would-be kidnappers. It’s about how our president responded to their story.
If these 10 people where Muslims, with dark beards and Arab head dress, our president would have responded with a further escalation of the ban of all Muslims in this country, and every Muslim American would have had to pay for it with abuse, discrimination, assault in public and pure fear for their safety.
If these 10 people were Hispanic, our president would have told us the Mexicans are murderers, rapists, criminals and needed to be deported, and – by the way – we need to build that wall. All Hispanics would have been further injured and damaged.
If these 10 people were Black, all black people would have been denigrated and the entire black-lives-matter movement would have been attacked as anarchist. The president would have blamed the black community for their crimes.
But these men are all white.
So the president attacked their victim, the Governor of Michigan. Apparently she had it coming.
So many deaths. We have the most deaths of all countries. Some of these people were great people, terrific people – on both sides. We have a 9/11 every four or five days now. Horrific numbers. In America, we like big numbers, tremendous numbers. No country has numbers like we do. Of course, people tell me that not all of these deaths are virus deaths. Some of these people were old and would have died anyway. That makes them fake deaths. It’s not our fault that they died, some of them. Nobody could have expected this. It’s not our fault.
Spotlight is a team of investigative reporters working for the Boston Globe. When a new editor takes charge of the paper, the Spotlight team is tasked to investigate allegations of sexual abuse of minors by the Catholic Church. The year-long investigation slowly exposes cover-ups at the highest level of the Boston religious circles that date back decades.
Spotlight is an expose about the Catholic Church, not just in the United States, but worldwide. What we learn is shocking, disturbing, disgusting and, in the end, a confirmation of what we knew all along from the media revelations of decades of abuse.
The Catholic Church has taken advantage of its members for over a thousand years, it has committed millions of atrocities, and it’s been getting away with them. In the modern world, where we value the emotional health of our children, abuse, and particularly sexual abuse by the clergy has been put under a microscope. And even now, with all the modern tools, there are still plenty of people willing to cover up for the church.
I know about this type of abuse and the effort to cover it up personally from people very close to me and I can attest to that.
We need more Spotlight on this problem, and we need to continue to expose the church for what it is: a power-hungry, self-serving beast that preys on its own members and everyone it comes in contact with.
Watch Spotlight!
We Americans have always chastised China for Tiananmen Square.
We Americans have ridden into Syria and bashed Assad for using chemical weapons on his own people.
These are pictures of Americans attacked by their own government in July 2020.
Their crimes: protesting against police brutality.
The American government is shooting its own people.
Let us never again have the audacity and accuse other countries for human rights violations. We lost the right to lecture anyone. We have no moral foundation. We’re turning against our own people!
150,000 Americans are dead from an infectious disease, and 1,000 more are dying every day.
Black Americans are getting killed by our own police in broad daylight on camera.
Young Americans are getting shot in their own streets for protesting situations that they can’t stand anymore.
Is this our Great Again America?
Is all that winning worth it?
Here is an article about Jennifer Kristiansen, a 37-year-old Portland mother and attorney who was arrested. She was not read her rights. Her crime: standing in solidarity with other protestors in Portland. Apparently anonymous troops in battle fatigues, without nametags, without badges, without identifying insignia, can just pick people up off the streets on American cities now and our government seems to think this is acceptable. Not only is it unconstitutional, it is immoral, and it is offensive.
Are they seriously asking us to “pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and the republic for which it stands?”
This republic?
Here is a picture of another victim in Portland. This is Donavan La Bella, a 26-year-old peaceful activist in Portland, shot in the face by United States officers. He may have brain damage, and a bad right eye for the rest of his life. He will definitely need reconstructive surgery in his face. Was this necessary?
There are people in this country who think that he deserves it, that he should not have been there. He should not have stood up for this ideals and protect the republic for which the flag stands.
What kind of “officer” shoots an unarmed young man point-blank in the face. What kind of government orders its law enforcement officers to commit atrocities against its own people?
Syria’s Assad did that, and we sent dozens of missiles into his country. After this, we no longer have the moral authority to suggest to any other country to get its human rights policies corrected. We have no more moral authority, and it will hurt our leadership for decades, maybe forever.
This same government of ours was not indignant when this happened:
While the protestors in Portland are unarmed, while the wall of moms are simply concerned citizens with nothing but the clothes on their backs and facemasks, these protestors in Lansing, Michigan just two months ago stood in front of the governor’s office in the Michigan State Capitol. Their protest was not about the rights of oppressed minorities. Their protest was about having been ordered to stay home to shelter from infection and wear masks in public. They, however, were allowed to be fully armed with military assault rifles. Where were the federal DHS officers in that protest? Why didn’t they shoot rubber bullets into their faces?
Something tells me things would not have ended well for the officers if they’d started shooting at them.
I have to say that they look way more dangerous and menacing to me than the wall of moms in Portland did:

Our government now raises arms against its own people in its own country, against those who do not agree with the government’s policies and the morality of its actions.
How can I pledge allegiance?
