Congressman Todd Akin’s View on Rape

Senate candidate and current U.S. Rep. Todd Akin said during the taping of The Jaco Report on FOX 2 was asked whether abortion should be allowed in the case of rape.

Akin’s response was that it was his understanding from doctors that it’s rare for someone to become pregnant from rape.  He said, “The female body has ways to try and shut that whole thing down.”

He went on to say that punishment should be on the rapist and not the child.

What Akin was saying, therefore is that if you are a woman, and you have been raped, and you get pregnant from it, you must not have been raped. You allowed it. It’s therefore somehow your fault.

When challenged, the Akin camp later responded with a statement indicating the congressman misspoke.

With this leadership, let’s not worry about the right wing. It will eventually self-destruct.

Can they even feed themselves?
