Inspired to Paint

This street scene by Greg Gandy inspired me to paint a series of Portraits of San Francisco. Now all I need is some photographs for motifs to get me started with material.

Hotel Art: Double is Better

At the Hampton Inn downtown Albany, New York, the decorations in the lobby and in the rooms include historic photographs of local sites. A landmark in Albany is the Alfred E. Smith Building, named after a four-term governor, as seen from my hotel window. It is the building at the red arrow, mostly occluded by newer buildings in front of it:

In the room right next to the window, I see this:

Why would somebody put two framed historic photographs, with identical description plaques, right next to each other in a hotel room?

Well, it got me to write this blog entry. How many hotel rooms get the patrons to write blog entries about them?
