Statue of Ceres Back on Missouri State Capitol Dome

The Missouri State Capitol building has been under renovation for more than a year. The dome has been wrapped up for construction that long.

Yesterday, during a visit to one of the state office buildings, I was lucky to be there during exactly the time when the statue was installed again after being gone since November 2018.

This is the historic bronze statue of Ceres, the Roman goddess of agriculture, perched 238 feet above  the entry of the building. It took a 550-ton crane to raise the 10′ 4″ statue, weighing 1,407 pounds, on this bitter-cold day in Missouri.

I was there for a historic moment.

Yes, this one was fine. I recently wrote you two comments on the Stoner post and they just vanished. 🙂 I know there is no reason why you would not accept my comments.

Ah, what a nice review. Thanks for the link. I do like your evaluation. Oddly and coincidentally, I literally, 30 minutes ago, came back from a trip from Columbia, Missouri – no kidding. It was cold and snowy, and whenever I am there, I can’t help but think of Stoner.

Wow, Norbert, that’s amazing — the coincidence! A second time.
After reading Stoner, I find myself thinking about life in a slightly different way.
And because I have only just finished the book, the man comes into my mind often, especially at times when I am faced with a difficult situation. I feel like I know him intimately, like I do a very dear friend. I am sure you are the same.
