When you elect a clown, expect a circus.
Ukraine is suffering from massive corruption at the top of the government. After Paul Manafort’s protector in the Ukraine was ousted, near-billionaire Petro Poroshenko took over. Most of the candidates for the upcoming election are oligarchs. The voters don’t like it.
41-year-old television comic Volodymyr Zelensky is the host of a show called Servant of the People. He makes fun of the political elite. Ukraine is a large country with a lot of resources, great agricultural potential and a highly educated population of 42 million. They are not happy, and the comedian is the front-runner in the election.
Sounds familiar?
Steven Colbert for President!
Of course! thanks for the reminder: puts a whole other layer on this U. thing. Imagine a quick-witted political pundit comedian trying to deal with Trump who has a negative sense of humour, less than none.
By the way, Ukrainians hate to have a “the” put in front of their country’s name. It’s just Ukraine. Some countries need it, but def. not Ukraine. Bill Maher has trouble not saying U-KER-rainians, the people.
I did not know about “the” Ukraine being a thing. I have used that all my life. Thanks for the correction. I have modified both posts accordingly and will remember this going forward.
