  1. Preaching to the choir, alas. The alt-right are appealed to through feelings, not words. They moved into a post-literate world — we’re not far behind. Think up another way to reach them or it’s going to be civil war, their righteous hate as unbelievable as the jihadists’ (which we should believe, as they keep telling us outright — and to not do so is to our peril). There is mass alt-right hysteria blooming and words cannot stop it.

When T’s surrogate “Creepy Sex Toy” defends him with, “He only changed the words,” those might as well be the death-knoll and epitaph of any kind of reasoning based on words, logic, facts or scientific proof.

  2. And then there is Alan W. Watts.

“We are living in a culture entirely hypnotized by the illusion of time, in which the so-called present moment is felt as nothing but an infintesimal hairline between an all-powerfully causative past and an absorbingly important future. We have no present. Our consciousness is almost completely preoccupied with memory and expectation. We do not realize that there never was, is, nor will be any other experience than present experience. We are therefore out of touch with reality. We confuse the world as talked about, described, and measured with the world which actually is. We are sick with a fascination for the useful tools of names and numbers, of symbols, signs, conceptions and ideas.” […and words?]

Between the two men’s cautionary, comforting & wise (prejudice confirming) thoughts, I am calmly resolute. I’ve had a brush with dying and I intend to live my last years as calmly, honestly & playfully as possible. Let the poor children (don’t have any myself) deal with Christianists & ISIS, two sides of the same bullshit-spewing coin.

That said, as an American-Canadian, I cannot seem to turn away from the entertaining, if chilling, show that is Election 2016 and the folly of who gets to sit in the Big Iron Chair, ignoring the White Walkers that will end it all.
