I remember it clearly. At about 6:00pm on September 11, 2001 I needed something to take my mind off things. I put on the Harvest album by Neil Young and started this painting of towers that no longer existed – I guess trying to bring them back. By about 9:00pm the painting was done. It still hangs in my office next to my desk today.
Hello Norbertt,
I write a little weekly column in Ireland’s Sunday Independent and I would very much like to feature your very fine painting ‘Remembering the Twin Towers’ on Sunday 11 September, if that’s all right with you. I don’t have an email address for you but if you google
What lies beneath Niall MacMonagle
You should get an idea of the kind of thing I do.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Best wishes,
Niall MacM
Hi Niall – of course, you may use this painting. I’d be honored. It was, truly, painted in one 2-hour session on the evening of 9/11/2001 in San Diego, California. It helped with the grief. Let me know when it’s published :).
