Russia Shows More Common-Sense than America

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called a news conference today to announce that they are urging Syria to put its chemical weapons arsenal under international control, if this would avert military strikes.

He said he had already discussed the idea to Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem at talks in Moscow and he expected a quick and hopefully positive response.

In contrast, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said earlier on Monday that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad could avoid a U.S. strike by surrendering all his chemical weapons within a week, but immediately made clear he was not making a serious offer.

I am embarrassed to say that, at least in this matter, Russia seems to make more sense than America. They are actually seeking diplomatic and face-saving results, rather than beating the drums of war.

I don’t like it how these dolts in Washington that think they are running the world now play with all our welfare and livelihood – in the name of — what?
