
Friends were visiting Switzerland this summer and were there during the supermoon period. From the balcony of their lodging they were able to watch the moonrise, catching some great zoomed shots. One of them (permission by V.T.) inspired this painting.
Beautiful. And pretty accurate. I think it’s fascinating that the apparently larger size of the moon on the horizon is an optical illusion, and nobody knows for sure what causes it.
Pssst. I think that’s the June moon, not July. ☺

Oh, the date is actually when the PAINTING was finished…. Not when the moon was there :).
