Marco Rubio: Soon-to-Haves

I’m troubled by rhetoric that pits people against each other… We have never been a nation of haves and have-nots. We are a nation of haves and soon-to-haves, of people who have made it and people who will make it. And that’s who we need to remain.

– United States Senator Marco Rubio

Tell that to the people on the bottom, who are on food stamps:

People on Food Stamps

This chart shows that the number of people on food stamps has risen sharply under Obama, but it also shows that Newt Gingrich’s claim that Obama put more people on food stamps than anyone else is wrong. More people went on food stamps during Bush than during Obama – so far. As of last October 2011, there were 46,224,722 people on food stamps in the United States.

Rubio gives a good, even impressive speech.

But claiming that those 46 million are all soon-to-haves is ridiculous.

He claims that the failure of the Obama policies is that Obama thinks we should not have billionaires and millionaires. Obama does not think that either. That’s ridiculous, too.

What we need in this country are more jobs. To do that, we need to build more stuff, not just move stuff around.

Who will help us get there? Obama or Romney?

Clowns, both.
