New Jersey – Government at its Worst

It sure looks like New Jersey Governor Christie’s chances for national office collapsed. The leaks that surfaced, due to relentless local journalism, indicate that the governor’s deputy chief of staff ordered, via email, to cause a traffic jam in Fort Lee by closing lanes on the George Washington bridge. At this moment, the governor denies that he knew anything about this.

To me it does not actually matter if the governor knew or didn’t know. The most senior people in his administration knew, and the buck stops with him. I don’t really care. If the governor didn’t know, he should have known.

For political retribution, in a move so stupid and puerile, it is hard to believe, the Christie administration caused an artificial traffic jam in Fort Lee that lasted for four days. Their arrogance and their recklessness leaves me speechless.

This government does not care that thousands, tens of thousands of people who need to go to work in New York, children that need to go to school, ambulances that need to get to hospitals, are all inconvenienced for hours every day because of some political power play? The disregard for the people, the people who voted them into office, is mind-blowing.

We are supposed to have government by the people, for the people. Christie’s people have just proven to me that they are government against the people, government designed to line their own pockets and government to carry out agendas of power politics – New Jersey style.

I certainly do not want Christie and Christie’s men and women in the White House playing with our nation’s military, our seniors’ entitlements, our student’s educational opportunities and our poor’s welfare. I am using the word “playing” here on purpose, because what they showed they can do with a bridge is nothing short of playing.

Christie’s men and women care about themselves and their power.

If Governor Christie knew about this and ordered it, he don’t deserve to win another election.

If he didn’t know about this, as he claims, I think he still doesn’t deserve to win another election, because he has proven to us that the does not have sufficient good judgment to surround himself with people of integrity.
