…Apollo 11 landed on the moon. I was fortunate that as a pre-teen I was able to watch the first moon landing. I lived in Germany then, and my parents let me stay up all night, since the event occurred after 2:00am local time. Then I felt that the world had changed. I was certain that once I was grown up I would be able to travel to the moon for a week’s vacation.
I knew then I should be proud that I was able to witness the first moon landing in history.
Little did I know that a few years later I would also witnessing the last one – at least for 50 years or so.
At the rate we are going, moon landings are as far apart as visits from Halley’s Comet.
