Chilling Advice About Iran

I had an email exchange with an old friend and self-proclaimed “news junkie.” I confessed that I don’t follow much news. I am definitely not a news junkie. Here was his chilling advice. I simply replaced the actual name with <Your Son> so Google does not pick this up as personal. This is chilling advice and I am thinking of heeding it:

You don’t follow the news.  You’ll probably get a lot more work done that way.  There is only one thing I want you to keep in mind.  There is a very real chance that the United States will invade and occupy Iran.  If this happens, the draft will be reinstated.  I would encourage <your son> to not participate in the wrongful wars that the United States is in.  If threatened with conscription, I would advise <your son> to leave the country.  The last time we had the draft, they didn’t draft men older than 26.  The odds are that <your son> will have cleared this hurdle before things get hot.

Maybe I need to pay more attention to the news. The United States has no business starting another illegitimate war.
