Maternity Box – Made in Finland

Every mother in Finland, regardless of income or status, is eligible to get the Maternity Box after 154 days of pregnancy. An expectant mother fills out a form and submits a certificate of pregnancy from her healthcare provider.

Of course, this would never work in the United States. It would be regarded as socialist. Why would one taxpayer want to have money spent on another taxpayer. Let those that want to have children pay for them themselves.

Most Americans would regard Finland as a socialist country. I tried to figure out what tax rate they had. This Wikipedia article has all the bewildering details and yet, I can’t answer my own question after reading it. I am sure taxation is high.

In America, 90% of all school children in Chicago come from families with less than $30,000 a year of income. Many of our bridges, highways, and schools are crumbling. Yet, we find billions to fund foreign wars and F-35 fighter planes.
