Last week I visited the Nevada State Capitol in Carson City.
It was difficult to get a good picture of the Capitol building, as it’s surrounded by a fenced park with lots of trees.
There was nobody in the park that I could ask to take my picture, so a quick selfie had to do.
Inside, on the first floor, down to hall to the left, was the Governor’s Office. I didn’t go inside, but I did take a quick picture.
I enjoyed visiting Carson City. It is associated with one of my oldest childhood memories. When I was perhaps four or five years old, my grandfather was the only person who had a black and white TV. When we visited him on Sundays, one of the treats was that we were allowed to watch the TV show Bonanza. (Surprisingly, this show ran in Germany in he early Sixties). In the opening frames, the map of the Ponderosa Ranch burned. Carson City is shown prominently in the middle of the map. Behind is Virginia City shown large, even though it’s just a very small hown now. The Ponderosa goes all the way from Carson City to Lake Tahoe. So my son, who lives there now, would be on the fictional Ponderosa Ranch.
Walking the main street of Carson City brought all these childhood memories back.
