Trisha and I went to Palm Springs today to attend the 2010 Annual Convention of Toastmasters International, where the headliner event is the finals of the World Championship of Public Speaking of Toastmasters International. Nine winners of the regional contests from all over the world competed on this stage, in front of an audience of more than 1,500 (my estimate) for the title. It was a spectacular event, very much worth the day and a hugely motivating experience. I have been a Toastmaster for many years – with a hiatus of ten years most recently, and I have competed at the local level. Attending this event made me want to go back.
Trisha is the current president of the Voyagers, one of the most vibrant clubs in Southern California. She has held many offices in the last few years and her leadership and initiative has not only done much good for the club, it’s rubbing off on me.
