We have added 171,000 jobs in October, leaving the unemployment rate at 7.9%, a tenth higher than last month. This is not good enough news to get excited about. Jobs growth is flat.
However, to put it into perspective: We added 171,000 jobs in October.
We lost 750,000 a month during the last few months of the Bush administration.
Which policies work better?
The standard republican rhetorical criticism is “slow recovery”. Nevermind the actual problems that need correction. My reminder is…recovery from what? 8 years of Bush. Absolutely the recovery has not come fast enough. No one….no president… could repair the damage Bush did in just
4 years. Especially without cooperation. Problems always take twice as long to fix as they did to make. The Bush years left us all worse off. The Obama years (1/2) as many, have not.
