I Am a Bookstore Mooch – Take Two

Where have all the bookstores gone?

On the last  few business trips I went to visit my favorite Borders stores only to find them gone. Just yesterday at the Syracuce Caroussel Center mall, Borders was just – not there anymore.

Borders has closed 226 of its 511 stores in the U.S. in order to restructure in bankruptcy.  Steady decline in revenues since their last profitable year in 2006 have contributed to more debt and no hope of recovery.

I did my part. Now that I am a bookstore mooch, I don’t buy many hardcopy books anymore, but I still want bookstores.  That is a problem. How long will bookstores last?

Norbs, bookstores will become specialty stores like antique stores or the occasional used bookstore.

Then, before you know it, you will have to travel to major cities in order to visit one, like visiting museums and art galleries.
